Jay Nair has trained in Indian Devotional Music for over ten years, and started performing solo concerts in India at the early age of ten. Since then Jay performed indian classical music, devotional music and Bollywood music in over hundred stages. Using traditional Indian raga-based melodies, Jay's voice will transport you into deep meditation. Jay composed and sang the complete "HEART SUTRA" sanskrit text for the movie "Journey of the Heart"(2013).
Jay also teaches music, leads kirtans, chants & Meditation, and uses Devotional Music, Stories and Poetry from Bhakti tradition for Meditation and Dharma Practice. Jay is a sweet soul and dedicated Bhakti practitioner, and known for his ability to lovingly guide students beyond their own perceived limitations, empowering students to find thier own voice, and inspiration in their own strength and ability. Jay has composed many Sanskrit, Pali and Tibetan chants, Yoga Sutra, Bhagavad Gita, Mahayana and Adwaita texts in traditional Indian raagas blending melody, surrendering devotion and rhythm with the intention to awaken joy, allow healing and attain shamatha.
In April 2018 , Jay released an album " Songs of Universal Peace" with guitarist Ross Hammond. "Songs of Universal Peace" is a set of six verses from 2000 year old ancient Sanskrit tradition. The music is a blend of Indian Classical devotional music, Appalachian Folks music, Blues, Improvisation and more.
